    Safety in a lab setting is paramount at UCSF. Use these resources to maintain a safe lab environment for you and your colleagues.  

  • New Process for Radiation Dosimetry Badges

    Personnel MonitoringMonitoring devices will be issued to personnel who work in a laboratory which uses the types or quantities of radionuclides requiring such devices. The need will be determined at the time of RUA approval and the need for, or type of, monitoring device will be noted on the RUA for each individual listed as an authorized user. Persons must wear the dosimeter when the possibility of such exposure exists.

  • Training

    UCSF EH&S creates, delivers, and tracks environmental, health, and safety trainings for faculty, staff, students, contractors and visitors.Determine your training needs by first speaking with your supervisor about the hazards you encounter in your work.EH&S offers classroom and online trainings for the UCSF community. Online trainings are available in the Learning Management System (LMS). For any issues with trainings on the LMS, be sure to reach out directly be raising a help ticket.

    Environmental Programs strive to promote environmental stewardship, ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate environmental liability. We believe that active protection of the environment directly contributes to a happier, healthier community, while reducing financial risk to the university. Environmental Programs works to reduce UCSF’s environmental impact by:- Minimizing waste and pollution.- Establishing and reporting on key environmental performance indicators.- Raising environmental awareness among our staff, faculty and student         body.- Have additional questions?   • Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Safety

    This team provides technical support for health care accreditation, injury and illness reduction, job hazard analyses, occupational exposure monitoring, and strict oversight of hazardous building materials.

  • Labs and Research

    This page provides guidance on maintaining a safe workplace for all UCSF faculty and staff working in lab environments.

  • RSS On-site

    EH&S provides customer support technician service two days monthly- once at Parnassus and once at Mission Bay.
