Laboratory Coat Requests for New Researchers

  1. Login to L H A T and complete the Laboratory Hazard Assessment (LHAT) and PPE training located in the "action items" section.
  2. Determine which size lab coat you need from the following styles and size charts:

    Barrier Lab Coat

    Style: Designed with knit cuffs to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. These barrier coats are compliant with Cal/OSHA standard 3380. 

    Preferred Manufacturers: Medline, Thermo Fisher Scientific

    Medline brand: Women's Barrier lab coat image/size chart

    Flame Resistant Lab Coat

    Designed to provide a superior level of protection against flash fire, electric arc, and other dangerous conditions. These Flame-Resistant (FR) lab coats provide numerous applications in both laboratory and production settings. (6 oz/yd Nomex IIIA)

What is LHAT?

LHAT is a laboratory hazard assessment tool that allows you to:

As a Principal Investigator (PI):

  • Identify or add lab workers into their lab group
  • Determine hazards that are present in the lab through guided questions
  • Communicate laboratory hazards to personnel through the LHAT
  • Identify the proper PPE to be used based on the hazard assessment

As Laboratory Personnel:

  • Identify with a lab group
  • View potential hazards present in the lab through the assessment
  • Receive a list of proper PPE to be used in your lab setting
  • Receive training & demonstrate understanding of the training on the selected PPE for your lab
