New Refresher Requirements for Laboratory
Safety for Researchers Training
Effective May 1, 2013, all UCSF laboratory workers must complete Laboratory Safety For Researchers (LSR) training every 3 years. The 3 year renewal for laboratory safety training is supported by requirements in the UCLA/Los Angeles District Attorney Settlement Agreement regarding the death of a lab worker, UC Office of the President Training Policy and Cal-OSHA Title 8 requirements. To avoid disruption of your research, maintain safety in your laboratory, and avoid Cal-OSHA citations, please complete this training before you start lab work at UCSF and every three years thereafter.
The revised LSR training incorporates, among other items, liquid nitrogen safety and updated responsibilities for Principal Investigators and lab employees. The training has been updated to be compatible with new OS requirements. The new training is available in UC Learning Center.
